| General Random Questions |
What the heck is this? It's a puzzle contest. We give you puzzles, you solve them. Whoever solves all the puzzles first (and second through fifth) will win fabulous prizes. Back to top |
Why is the contest all black and white and red and this FAQ is blue? That's because viZion is kinda tired of coding and now looking for shortcuts. This is one of them. However, if you really hate these colors you can always go into your Profile and change your template. We promise not to judge you... Back to top |
What makes you so qualified to run your own puzzle contest? Well, we ran a contest last year that was well-received. Insane Steve and Soulsproximity have also run their own puzzle contests. Back to top |
Wait, what? Insane Steve has made puzzles for this contest?! Yes. We really are Bastards. Good luck! Back to top |
How many puzzles are there in this contest? Do I have to solve everything in order? We can't tell you how many puzzles there because that would ruin the surprises we have in store for you. It will be possible to work on several different puzzles at the same time. All puzzles must be solved before the final stage becomes available. Back to top |
Can I work with my bestest buddy? Teams are encouraged and almost probably required to complete this contest. Back to top |
Do I have to have a KoL acccount and know lots about KoL and be speed ascender and do the statis to compete in this contest? Having a KoL account is not required to compete in this contest. It's possible to complete this contest without ever having played KoL. Although having played the game probably couldn't hurt. Back to top |
I can't see the Questions and Answers forum. Wtf? That probably means you didn't register through the Contest Registration link and used the regular forums registration instead. Just let a Bastard know and we'll get you into the Contestants usergroup. The other possibility is that there's a bug in the code. But probably not. It's really just your fault for using the wrong registration. Back to top |

| The Top Menu Explained |
What will those links in the top menu do for me? The Forums link will take you back to the Arrogant Bastards forums. Duh. The Puzzle link will take you back to the last puzzle you were solving. Unfortunately, it may not take you back to the last puzzle you were solving if one of your teammates looked at a different puzzle since you last clicked the link. In that case you'll go back to the last stage your teammate was solving. Really, it's kind of a useless link. The Progress link will take you to your progress map. This map contains all of the puzzles you have opened or solved. It will be possible to access any puzzle you've opened using your map. This link is much more useful than that stupid Puzzle link. I think you know what the FAQ link does. The Credits link lists all of the wonderful people who have contributed to this contest in some way. The puzzle credits will update as you open puzzles. This is to prevent you from knowing how many puzzles there but still let you know who made a particular stage. Check here whenever you get to a new puzzle. They are listed alphabetically by their stage header. Back to top |
Any other features I should know about? Clicking on the logo in the top left corner will take you back to the doom2.php index page. The "Continue the puzzle..." link works the same as the Puzzle link. That is, poorly. Back to top |

| Puzzle Questions |
Will we have any help with solving these puzzles? Sure! The stages themselves are peppered with hints. Check everywhere including the source code. We don't always put our hints in the same place from stage to stage. One stage may have source code hints and another may just have hints in the title or image name. Sometimes something that looks like a hint is really nothing or just us screwing around. Again, we're Bastards. Back to top |
Sounds hard :(. Will there be any other ways to get help? If you registered through Contest Registration link like you were supposed to then you've been automatically placed into a usergroup which allows you access to the Questions and Answers forum. Here you can post your puzzle questions and we will answer them. The catch is that every other team will be able to see your question and our answer. So you help everyone when you ask for help. Hahaha. Back to top |
That's not fair! Won't that also reveal how far we are into the contest? Posting a question may or may not reveal how far you into the contest. Obviously, the teams ahead of you will know. The teams behind you won't really know. And, really, the only people that will really know where you are in the contest are us Bastards. Back to top |
What if we find what we think is a mistake in a puzzle? If you find what you think is a mistake then you may send one us a kmail, forum PM, private message, etc. If it truly is a problem with our puzzle then we'll fix it and reward you. However, if we feel it's just a thinly veiled attempt to get information from us without posting to the forums then we'll personally post your question to the forums. One way or another your puzzle questions will be asked and answered in the Questions and Answers forum. Back to top |
It says in the KoL forums post that you guys encourage cheating. Are you for really serious? It's true; we mostly don't care how you come up with your answers and we don't care how big your team is. Back to top |
You *mostly* don't care how we cheat? What do you care about then? Ok, there are a few things that we don't want you doing.- No brute forcing. That means both manually spamming answers or using a brute forcing program. We're recording all of your answers so we'll catch it and you'll be warned first and then disqualified if it continues.
- Do not try any script injection techniques. That means don't input Javascript or SQL or any other garbage. This will result in automatic disqualification. That's just not kosher, dude.
